Williamson snatches sensational, record win: 1st Test, Day 5 (Wellington)

Bangladesh threw away the 1st Test after skipper Kane Williamson (104 not out in just 90 balls) and Ross Taylor (60) put on 163 to deliver a stunning and improbable seven-wicket win.

Earlier, Trent Boult (3-53) finished off the Bangladesh second innings of 160 as the visitors crumbled on a good batting pitch. This left NZ with a chase of 217 at 3.8 per over. This chase was a record win after Bangladesh posted 595 for 8, the highest ever first innings score which resulted in a loss.

New Zealand 539 (Latham 177, Santner 73, Nicholls 53, Williamson 53, Rabbi 3-87) and 217 for 3 (Williamson 104*, Taylor 60) beat Bangladesh 595 for 8 dec (Shakib 217, Mushfiqur 159, Mominul 64, Tamim 56, Sabbir 54*, Wagner 4-151) and 160 (Sabbir 50, Boult 3-53) by seven wickets.
