1995: Taylor's Aussies dethrones Windies in thrilling series (1 of 2)

After 15 years without a series defeat, Mark Taylor's rampaging Australian's finally beat the world champion West Indies 2-1 in an exciting and acrimonious Test series.

Prior to the series, Australia lost its two leading pace bowlers, Craig McDermott and Damien Fleming. During the series, only the Waugh twins averaged over 26 with the bat with Mark hitting 240 runs at 58.11 and Steve getting 429 runs at 52.77.

Glenn McGrath took 17 wickets to spearhead the victory. He was supported by Shane Warne's 15 wickets.

For the Windies, Brian Lara top scored with 308 runs despite not scoring a century. He was ably supported by skipper Richie Richardson and Jimmy Adams in the middle order. Their four-pronged fast bowling, unit led by Curtly Ambrose and Courtney Walsh, did the a superb job but it was simply not enough to win the series.
