Smith double ton turns screws on England: 4th Test, Day 2 (Manchester)

Steve Smith continued his superb form by dominating the English attack on his way to a sublime 211, his third Ashes double hundred.

Steve Smith was recalled after replays showed he had been dismissed off a Jack Leach no-ball on 118. Smith and Tim Paine (58) put on a century stand as Australia posted a mammoth 498-8 declared. Mitchell Starc blasted a tiring English attack for a fifty.

England were fighting to save the Test match, and with it the Ashes, ending day two at 1-23.

England 23 for 1 trail Australia 497 for 8 (Smith 211, Labuschagne 67) by 474 runs.
