Smith powers England recovery as Windies falter: 3rd Test, Day 2 (Edgbaston)

Wicket keeper Jamie Smith powered England to a commanding position after taking a 94-run first-innings lead over West Indies.

Smith’s 95 off 109 balls, included 12 fours and one six as England recovered from 54-5 to post 376.

Earlier, Joe Root and skipper Ben Stokes (54) delivered a composed 115-run stand for the sixth wicket to spearhead the fightback.

West Indies 282 (Brathwaite 61; Atkinson 4-67) & 33-2 (Louis 18*; Woakes 1-8) trail England: 376 (Smith 95, Root 87; Joseph 4-122, Seales 3-79) by 61 runs.
