Blistering Nissanka century stuns England as SL secure famous win: 3rd Test, Day 4 (Oval)

Opener Pathum Nissanka's magnificent century guided Sri Lanka to a famous 8 wicket win over England at the Oval.

Starting day four on 1-94 and requiring 125 more runs to win, the Sri Lankans needed barely two hours to complete the job in clinical fashion.

Nissanka smashed a blistering 127 not out from 124 balls, with 13 fours and two sixes. Mathews (32 not out from 61 balls) played a brilliant second fiddle in the 111-run partnership for the third wicket to secure the win.

Sri Lanka denied England a clean sweep of their 6 Test matches this summer, but England won the series 2-1.

Sri Lanka 263 (Dhananjaya 69, Kamindu 64, Nissanka 64) and 219 for 2 (Nissanka 127*) beat England 325 (Pope 154, Duckett 86) and 156 (Smith 67, Kumara 4-21, Vishwa 3-40) by eight wickets.
