Aaron Finch was born on 17 November 1986 in Colac, Victoria.
He made his first class debut for Victoria vs India in 2008. Finch is an aggressive right-handed batsman and left arm medium pace bowler who is also a superb fielder.
Finch made his T20 debut for Australia against England in Adelaide and then recieved "Man of the Match" honours in his second T20 against England at the MCG on 14 January 2011 when he top scored with 53 not out in 33 balls.
He was picked up by the Delhi Daredevils IPL franchise in the 2011 IPL Player Auction for US$300,000.
Finch’s international career peaked with his appointment as Australia’s limited-overs captain, where his calm leadership, tactical clarity, and strong communication helped stabilise the side. He set numerous batting records, including the highest individual T20I score of 172, and formed a long-standing opening partnership with David Warner that delivered consistent starts in both ODIs and T20Is. Finch led Australia to the 2021 T20 World Cup title, a historic first for the country, earning praise for his decision-making, faith in players, and ability to foster a cohesive team culture.
After retiring from international cricket, Finch shifted smoothly into commentary, analysis, and coaching advisory roles. His insights remain highly valued, reflecting the deep strategic understanding he developed over more than a decade at the highest level.
