Zimbabwe took control of the one-off Test against Bangladesh on the opening day in Harare, bowling the visitors out for just 140 in 47.2 overs after choosing to field.
Left-arm seamer Newman Nyamhuri starred with figures of 4 for 61, while Bangladesh’s batting struggled throughout the innings. Mominul Haque top-scored with 56 and captain Najmul Hossain Shanto made 26, but the tourists lost their final seven wickets for only 27 runs to surrender the initiative.
In reply, Zimbabwe reached 136 for 1 at stumps, trailing by only four runs with nine wickets still in hand.
Innocent Kaia led the charge with an unbeaten 76, sharing an opening partnership of 89 with Ben Curran, who contributed 43. Brendan Taylor remained unbeaten on 17 alongside Kaia, leaving Zimbabwe firmly in control heading into the second day of the match.
